- The M-43 Service Shoes are WWII-era boondocker boots, handcrafted in Japan to John Lofgren’s exacting standard of quality. Designed to faithfully replicate standard-issue service boots of the era, the Service Shoe features a streamlined profile built around the original Munson last. Patented in 1912 by U.S. Army doctor Edward Munson, the last was perfected through the study of over two thousand servicemen.
Crafted using Teacore black Horsebutt leather from the Shinki-Hikaku Tannery, the hide is tanned to preserve its natural character, showcasing authentic marks and scarring received throughout the horse's lifespan. The boots' construction incorporates classic Goodyear welt procedures using USA-made storm welts and is anchored with Vibram's 700 soles and 700 heels.

Recognizing the superior quality of vintage-inspired new productions compared to the originals, John transitioned to crafting his own line. His creations draw inspiration from timeless classics, featuring contemporary fits and crafted from the finest materials under ethical conditions. All of John Lofgren's products are exclusively manufactured in Japan.
